Which Country Craves AI Phones the Most? The Answer May Surprise You

In recent years, generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) has become a hot topic, applicable in various fields such as websites, robots, and computers. Many are curious about when smartphones will be equipped with Gen AI.

Recently, the renowned institution Counterpoint Research conducted a survey on Gen AI across seven countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Poland, and Japan.

The results revealed that among over 25,000 respondents, only 32% were familiar with Gen AI, with the United States having the highest awareness at 72%, while Japan had the lowest, with only 7% of respondents indicating familiarity.

The survey indicated that over 70% of Gen AI users access the technology through smartphones, with the highest proportion being Generation Z, highlighting the significant role of mobile phones in promoting the popularization of Gen AI.

Furthermore, nearly 60% of respondents plan to purchase Gen AI phones in the coming year, with American consumers showing the strongest willingness to buy, followed by Germany and France.

In terms of specific applications, users favor writing assistance, image generation, and voice assistant features. Although consumers are keen on Gen AI phones, only 19% of respondents are willing to pay extra for these features.

This implies that mobile manufacturers may need to adopt low-cost strategies and seek alternative revenue models, such as monetizing through applications or providing LLM services to developers.
